2012 Earth Day Celebration
The 18th annual Earth Day celebration was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Missouri State Capitol south lawn.
Earth Day activities
The Department of Natural Resources sponsors and hosts the event at the Capitol each year. Activities included information booths, games and displays about the environment. Many other state and federal agencies joined the department and bring additional environmental displays and exhibits to the event.
The nation's very first Earth Day was held in 1970 and led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
