Judging

Reviewing Videos

We will review the videos submitted and feature those doing a great job of teaching and inspiring us to protect the environment. Videos might be funny or serious, entertaining or educational, quirky or enlightening. We will feature video entries on the department's moearthday YouTube channel.

Videos will be posted on YouTube.com, a video sharing site, to encourage participation and provide maximum public access. We don’t prefer YouTube.com over any other video sharing site, but because it has such a big audience, this year we’re using that site. Children under 13 are not permitted to access YouTube, so if you're younger than that, please ask your parent, guardian, or teacher to see the video page.

How to enter the contest

You need a YouTube account to participate.

  1. Create and upload your video to YouTube.
  2. Open the video on your channel page.
  3. Share the video by clicking the “Share” tab.
  4. In the “To username” window type moearthday.
  5. In the “Message” window be sure you send us your name, mailing address, telephone number and a valid email address.
  6. Click the “Send” button.

Your personal information will not be posted on the contest page.  Your video will not show up on the contest page immediately.  We will review the video you submit and add it to the video contest page.

Winners will be notified by email or telephone.

Copyright Information

By submitting videos, you give the Missouri Department of Natural Resources permission to feature them, in whole or part, on any page on the dnr.mo.gov website. This permission includes, but is not limited to, department websites and the Intranet. Videos will also be shown on a television at the 2012 Earth Day celebration at the Capitol in Jefferson City.  Videos may also be distributed to broadcast media and the general public via any other format or venue. You will not be compensated for such use. However, where reasonable, we will give you credit for the videos. The submission must not contain brand names or trademarks and must not infringe on copyrights.

Prizes

Two videos will be chosen as the top two finalists.  Five members from each of the two finalist’s schools will be invited to attend the Earth Day celebration on April 20, 2012 in Jefferson City, Missouri.

The students will participate in an on-stage game of Environmental Survivor.  The winning student of the on-stage game will be declared the individual prize winner.

The department will award the grand prize to the school receiving the highest votes during the video judging.  The grand prize winner will be announced at the Earth Day celebration.

ONE (1) GRAND PRIZE: One grand prize will be given to the school at the Earth Day celebration.  In addition, each student participating in the on-stage game will receive a prize package.
