Non-playground and Playground Scrap Tire Material Grants
Fiscal Year 2014

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Solid Waste Management Program (SWMP) administers grant programs to divert scrap tires from landfills and illegal dumps by promoting end-uses for scrap tires.

Non-playground Scrap Tire Surface Material Grants – Approximately $200,000 is available during the 2014 grant cycle for scrap tire material grants for running tracks, walking trails, equine/livestock stalls/riding area or similar types of surfacing projects or molded products. Grant recipients requesting mats/tiles or pour-in-place surface material or molded products will be eligible to receive up to $50,000 while those requesting loose surface material will be eligible to receive up to $25,000. 

Playground Scrap Tire Surface Material Grants – Approximately $200,000 is also available during the 2014 grant cycle for playground scrap tire surface material grants. Grant recipients requesting mats/tiles or pour-in-place surface material will be eligible to receive up to $20,000 while those requesting loose surface material will be eligible to receive up to $10,000.

The department’s SWMP will award both grants on a competitive basis.
