Taum Sauk Area Water Quality
Water Quality Monitoring
Before and After the Reservoir Failure
Prior
to the failure of the upper reservoir, the Missouri Department of Natural
Resources and the Missouri Department of Conservation had been assessing
the reservoir and downstream area because of relicensing efforts by
Ameren UE. As a result, the department has a lot of water quality
and biological information collected about those resources prior to
the event. Shortly after the failure, both departments and others
were recollecting information to see what damages had occurred.
It takes time to document information about a biological community. Biologists are documenting the macroinvertebrate community and the fisheries resources.
