Watershed-Friendly Lawn Care Sign and Brochures

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Grant funds will be used to support an educational program to better inform the citizens of the Columbia Missouri area about proper lawn care techniques that will prevent nonpoint source pollution. This project is designed to motivate people to improve their lawn care practices and assist with improving the health of the watersheds in the City of Columbia and the surrounding areas. Through the use of a best management practices demonstration site, educational sign display and lawn care brochures citizens will be educated on practical measures to address water quality problems.

OBJECTIVES

The sign and brochures project is designed to motivate people to improve their lawn care practices and in so doing, protect water quality in the watersheds in the City of Columbia and surrounding areas. The Goal is to educate approximately 250,000 peoples yearly that visits the Rock Ridge State Park, on proper Lawn Care Techniques that will reduce Nonpoint Source pollution runoff in stream in Missouri streams. Special focus will be given to the citizens of Columbia.


PRODUCTS

1. Production of 36 x 24 x .125 inch exterior grade high pressure laminate panel incorporating digital graphics which promote best management practices in watershed-friendly lawn care. The display panel will be designed with engaging and informative photos/illustrations and text.
2. Production of 3000 tri-fold colored educational brochures promoting watershed-friendly lawn care practices will be displayed at the sign and distributed to citizens through varies project partners.
3. A park field day will also be utilized to promote the lawn care techniques and distribute brochures.
