Maries River Educational Project
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The River Bluffs Audubon Society will create a slide show and other educational materials that will be used to inform citizens about the causes, extent, and control of NPS pollution. The story line for the slide show will be based upon a Stream Team conducting a Stream Inventory (based upon the Inventory Manual supplied by the Conservation Federation of Missouri), whose members discover and discuss the environmental problems that can degrade a stream. In order to keep the slide show to a manageable length of about 15 minutes, the structure of the slide show will be an overview of conducting a stream inventory, environmental problems, and solutions.
PRODUCTS AND OBJECTIVES
In order to help the viewer pursue further information, the Audubon Society will also publish a brief brochure that lists state/federal/volunteer agency addresses that could provide further help with problems identified in the slide show. Beyond developing a slide show, the Audubon Society will endeavor to work with streamside landowners. Building relationships with landowners takes time, and will be an ongoing effort during the eighteen-month project life.
