Project Description:

4-H TEEN ENVIRONFEST CAMP - DAVIESS COUNTY

A 4-H camp designed to address issues related to recycling, conservation and use of water, sources of point and nonpoint water pollution and the hydrologic cycle.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Teen Envirocamp is an overnight 4-H camp at Crowder State Park in Grundy County designed to address a number of issues relating to recycling, conservation and use of water, sources of nonpoint source pollution, and the hydrologic cycle. This two day hands-on experience will provide 75 teenagers with an opportunity to study ways to reduce water pollution and improve the quality of Missouri's water supply. The camp will be conducted by a 4-H Youth Specialist, Solid Waste Region D Education Specialist, and other University Extension Specialists who are currently involved in teaching water quality throughout the state of Missouri. The information gained in this camp will be used by 4-H staff members and teens when they work with younger 4-Hers in future camps and with members in 4-H club programs. The experience will also enhance the work done through school enrichment programs related to water quality and will help participating students to improve their Missouri Mastery Achievement Test scores. Additionally, it should allow for the continued use of the ground water model in future camps and school enrichment programs.
