Project Description:

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Mark Twain Water Quality Initiative (MTWQI) with cooperation from the University of Missouri Outreach and Extension Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and the Missouri Department of Health, developed a class for real estate professionals that would heighten awareness of environmental concerns associated with subdividing rural agricultural properties for small acreage, subdivisions, and industrial development. MTWQI offered the class as part of a pilot project to see if there was sufficient interest from the real estate industry. The course was offered three times with excellent class evaluation results. This project took the course a step further by funding "train the trainer" sessions to selected individuals. These individuals then took this training and formed regional teams that offered the courses to citizens in those regions.

OBJECTIVES

1. Train 60 people from the various regions
2. Develop and supply manuals for those to be trained
