Total Maximum Daily Loads
TMDLs Under Development
According to the Consent Decree signed in 2000 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the American Canoe Association and the Sierra Club, EPA was responsible for ensuring that 30 Missouri TMDLs be completed by the end of the 2009 calendar year. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources worked with EPA to complete these TMDLs through a Memorandum of Understanding. The lists below identify water bodies on which TMDLs, or their equivalents, will be developed or completed during the 2010 calendar year, as well as TMDL-related information from 2009 and 2008.

2009 TMDL Development Schedule
A Memoradum of Understanding required Missouri to complete TMDLs or their equivalents on 34 water bodies in 2009. In 2009,
- Five water bodies that count toward the Memorandum of Understanding were removed from the 303(d) List.
- Nine TMDLs went through Public Notice. Of those, one had two public notice periods, two public notice periods were extended and one was withdrawn from public notice.
- Two TMDLs and one permit in-lieu of a TMDL were submitted to EPA. No TMDLs were approved in 2009.
