Total Maximum Daily Loads
TMDLs Under Development
According to the Consent Decree signed in 2000 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the American Canoe Association and the Sierra Club, EPA is responsible for ensuring that 28 Missouri TMDLs be completed by the end of the 2009 calendar year. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is working with EPA to complete these TMDLs through a Memorandum of Understanding. The lists below identify water bodies on which TMDLs, or their equivalents, may be developed during the 2008 calendar year, as well as TMDL-related information from 2007 and 2006.

2007 TMDL Schedule
The Memoradum of Understanding required Missouri to complete TMDLs or their equivalents on 11 waters in 2007. The department completed 14 and these included:
- four permits in lieu of a TMDL.
- four waters which were removed from the 303(d) List because they were judged to be meeting water quality standards.
- six waters which were removed from the 303(d) List since limits for manganese were struck from the water quality standards. Manganese does not present any human health hazards.
The list below also includes waters that were in the 2007 schedule, but are now scheduled for completion in 2009.
