2010 TMDL Development Schedule
According to a consent decree signed in 2000 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the American Canoe Association and the Sierra Club (American Canoe Association, et al. v. EPA, No. 98-1195-CV-W in consolidation with No. 98-4282-CV-W, February 27, 2001),, EPA was responsible for ensuring that 35 Missouri TMDLs be completed by the end of the 2010 calendar year. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources worked with EPA to complete these TMDLs through a memorandum of understanding. The following list was accomplished in 2010:
- EPA approved TMDLs for 21 water body segments developed by the department.
- EPA established TMDLs for 11 water body segments.
- One permit in-lieu of a TMDL was accepted by EPA (McKenzie Creek) and EPA approved TMDLs for 3 more water body segments not required by the Consent Decree (Courtois Creek, Tributary to Indian Creek and Village Creek). See also the 2009 schedule below.
