Annual sunflower, common name, sunflower, is a native plant reaching a height of 3 to 10 feet. The plant blooms from July to August with yellow rays with brown to purple center disk. This is a somewhat weedy plant commonly seen growing along roads, fences, fields and in waste areas. Flower heads tend to follow the path of the sun each day from morning to night, hence the common name.
