Black-eyed Susan is a native plant reaching a height of 2 to 3 feet. It has yellow to orange-yellow blooms with dark brown centers. The blooms appear from June to September and attract butterflies. For best results from seed in the St. Louis area, start seeds indoors around March 1. Seeds also may be sown directly in the garden at last frost date.
