Monarda citriodora

Lemon beebalm is a non-native plant reaching a height of 1 to 2.5 feet. It blooms from May to August with lavender to pink to white flowers. Lemon beebalm is also commonly called lemon mint, lemon horsemint, purple horsemint or lemon bergamot. Flowers are attractive to bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Leaves have a distinctive lemony aroma when rubbed. Commonly called beebalm in reference to a prior use of the leaves as a balm for bee stings.
