Prairie Blazing Star
Liatris pycnostachya
Prairie blazing star is a native plant reaching a height of 2 to 5 feet. The plant blooms from July to August. The deep rose-purple flower heads are spikes up 3/4 inches across and up to 20 inches long. The flowers will attract birds, including hummingbirds, and butterflies.
