Chair Kevin Johnson called meeting to order at 1:08 p.m. A quorum was noted. Secretary Jeff Jaquess read the minutes, and they were subsequently approved with some minor spelling corrections.

Old Business:
Steve Wyatt met with Deborah Harris and Jeff Staake to discuss the MAC 2003 budget. The budget from September 26th has been changed. Mr. Wyatt showed a PowerPoint slide of the line item budget showing one-day conference versus two-day conference with only $1,000 cost difference. If anyone has any questions, please contact the MAC budget officer, Mr. Wyatt.

Mr. Wyatt has finished the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual for the budget officer.

MAC is scheduled to meet with Executive Staff on October 18th. Executive Staff has been going through budget exercises so MAC may have to prepare for another cut.

Subcommittee report by Tom Judge included long-term goals. Mr. Judge as the Employee Advisor Council member mention he did receive comments on Policy # 1.03 Employee Records before the October 10th, 2002 EAC meeting

Policy Review: Dick Gaffney did not get any comments about Policy # 2050 Employee Comments on DNR Operations (Whistle Blowers Law), or Policy # 5015 Special Employment Program to Achieve a Culturally Diverse Workforce. Mr. Gaffney needs comments by morning of October 17 about DNR Policy #5.07 Training and Education; #5.07-01 Training, and #5.07-02 Tuition Reimbursement.

Mr. Judge has sent info to Tanya Black for the EAC meeting on October 10th, 2002 at Pomme de Terre State Park.

Food Fest subcommittee – Cynthia Bowser has received no comments regarding International Food Festival. There was a brief discussion of other alternatives, issues and suggestions.

Retention and Recruitment subcommittee has not met.

Calendar Subcommittee – Mr. Jaquess met with Calendar Subcommittee on Monday, October 7, 2002. Discussion included using the Lewis and Clark bicentennial logo. Frank Wesley is the L and C lead person Mr. Jaquess also mentioned that in 2003 GSRAD would be celebrating 150 years of service to Missouri.

Diversity Conference Subcommittee – Mr. Johnson will talk to Kenny Seeney and e-mail information to MAC members

Historic Archives has no committee chair. Three people volunteered to help on this committee.


New Business:
Kevin Johnson attended the Marketing Meeting. Several suggestions to improve DNR image was suggested

Promotional ideas include $2.70 Frisbee Whamo with DNR/MAC logo made of 60% recycled plastic. Not included in 2004 budget, but will be in 2005 budget. Mr. Dachroeden has multicolor frisbees available made from recycled plastic.

"Integrity and Excellence in All We Do" motto to be placed on the frisbees is still up in the air.

Mr. Johnson has been working with MIS and Debbie Boeckman with Lotus Notes Events calendar.

Ms. Evans provided information regarding:

Cheryl Avant, professional and leadership development in self-improvement areas, was introduced from the Director's Office.

20th Annual Career Fair in St. Louis. Who in MAC will be attending? Probably no one. Nona Lancaster (GSRAD) might be attending.

Rachel Griffin spoke regarding new Lunch and Learns.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
