Meeting called to order at 1:10 p.m. Quorum noted. Minutes from last meeting are still being reviewed and will be ready by next MAC meeting. March meeting will be a walk–through Diversity Conference at Ramada Inn.
- Retain budget – but continue with conference
- Tanya Black forwarded a conference timeline by email – three options available (attach copy)
- One day conference
- Some start early with drive from Kansas City, Jeff City, Rolla, Poplar Bluff. Ten to twenty percent will be driving from out of town.
- Denise Evans commented that it must be treated like a regular 8–5 work.
- Continental breakfast at 7:30 with conference going from 8:30–4:30. Motion to approve by Deborah Harris with Jeff Jaquess seconding. Approved.
- Program Directors supervisor approval necessary for Chuck Dachroeden and other people for twelve-hour flextime. Ms. Harris is to check with Director’s Office about people working "over-time".
- Diversity Conference date: Ramada Inn can do Tuesday and Wednesday, March 18 and 19.
- If Elm Street location was in use. The only available date was Monday, March 17, with a catered breakfast and lunch. The committee decided that Mondays are difficult for scheduling conferences.
- There would be a significant cost difference if we went with the Elm Street over Ramada.
- Dick Gaffney made motion to approve Ramada on March 19 with Ms. Harris seconding. Approved.
- Awards and gifts to speakers and facilitators. Ms. Evans and Julius Johnson might be able to get speakers gifts, especially for DNR employees. Plaques from Missouri Vocational Enterprise are $60 each. Source for plaques is Jefferson City or St. Louis Area.

- Mr. Dachroeden – What is to be stressed in this Conference?
- Kevin Johnson – How we work together in war, Saddam, job loss, layoffs, North Korea, Columbia disaster
- Julius Johnson – "Discovering Diversity – The Spirit of America" – survival, teamwork, diverse, specialization, Spirit of America, we stick together even when times are tough.
- Ms. Evans – JC LandC Task Force spoke to, LandC people could talk only for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Steve Wyatt and Mr. Gaffney – contact LandC Corps of Engineers, Flag Corp, they could talk.
- Cheryl Avant – will collect questions to give to speakers;
- Panel – should represent diversity.
- Diversity Conference’s Tentative Schedule
- Breakfast speakers considered: Elson Floyd, Steve Mahfood, Cornell Sudduth, Scott Mandrell, Drouillard, Marjorie Campbell, Rita Days, Lin Appling and Dr. Rex Campbell
- Lewis and Clark presentation of flags in a.m.
- Ms. Evans may be contacting "Fife and Drum Corp" – this is a group of little kids that play music and dress in 1800’s style clothes.
- Have hot breakfast instead of continental from 7:30-8:30
- 7:30 – breakfast and registration
- 8:30-9:45 – Flag Corp and Introduction of Speakers
- 10:00-11:00 – three 45-minute sessions between 10:00 and 3:15 with a break for lunch
- 3:30-4:30 – closing conference
- Sessions include Corp of Discovery, DNR Team Diversity, True Color (Discovering Your True Color and How You Work With a Color?)
- LandC had a diverse team to accomplish a goal to explore. DNR has a diverse team to protect the Missouri environment.
- Discovering the Diversity of the DNR Team and its Mission
- Three rooms with approximately 50-60 people per room.
- Missouri Legislature breaks on March 28.
- Motion made to invite legislators; Mr. Gaffney seconded the motion. Approved.
- Mr. Dachroeden – get people that have not attended before, then offer attending to first-come, first-served; get included on regular program directors’ meeting agenda.
- Kevin Johnson and Ms. Harris – will review all correspondence before sending out
- March walk-through is at March 5 at Ramada – see Lori at 1:00p.m. in unofficial meeting
- Check attendance for 2000, 2001 and 2002
- Kevin Johnson – will draft letter to speakers and facilitators on Monday 2/10/03
