Minutes of Meeting

Meeting was called to order at 1:10 p.m. Attendees reviewed previous MAC meeting minutes and were asked by Chairman Kevin Johnson to point out any changes. Changes are as follows:

Motion was moved to change minutes as proposed. Motion seconded.

Mr. Johnson said budget was approved for actual 2001 expenditure, less 15 percent. It was mentioned that MAC would need to discuss how we could cut costs to offset budget cuts.

Performance Appraisal – Motion carried to move forward with performance appraisal policy revision.

Plea to attend Executive Staff meetings by Mr. Johnson.

Diversity Conference Committee met at Capitol Plaza to look into having their conference there. One benefit at Capitol Plaza includes close proximity of conference rooms. Committee would like $31/day per person to go with a two-day conference. $62/day per person with 20 percent gratuity. Facilitators have cut their costs. Committee would like to maintain standard of conference and keep it at two days. Possible contributors to conference mentioned.

MAC Calendar – Ages of people have been taken out of calendar, and calendar has been revised to allow more writing space.

Memo of Understanding between Lincoln University, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and MoDNR on September 20, 2001 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Attendees will tour Capitol and Mansion, with lunch in Governors Hotel. Roundtable discussion with EPA and MAC followed by memo signing in Lincoln University Library. Luncheon will cost $9.00.

Career Day with EPA is on September 18 at Lincoln University. MAC is invited to attend.

Mr. Johnson requested copies of biographies from attendees (officers) of Roundtable discussion on September 20.

Budget proposal – 1-day vs. 2-day MAC conference. MAC discussed 15 percent budget cut and its effects on the Diversity Conference. Ways to reduce costs for MAC were discussed. Mr. Johnson will be meeting with Executive Staff and will mention budget and how they can contribute. What can they afford?

Motion to Adjourn. Motion Seconded. Meeting adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
