JEFFERSON CITY, MO, -- Gov. Jay Nixon announces the Cole County Public Water Supply District No. 4 has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The district will use these funds for construction of two new wells; a new 500,000-gallon elevated storage tank and upgrades to the distribution system.
The grant funds come from a $50 million bond sale in November of 2007, which funded the Clean Water Initiative for water and wastewater improvements. The grant will be used in conjunction with matching funds from a loan provided through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program. The project is estimated to cost $2,894,055 and is expected to be completed in July 2010.
The Department of Natural Resources' Water Protection Program will administer the grant funds. For more information, contact Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Water Protection Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176 or 573-751-1192.
