Grand opening set for new marina store at Long Branch State Park

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JUNE 26, 2009 -- Visitors to Long Branch State Park near Macon will notice a new marina store as they enjoy their boating experience this summer. The store's grand opening will be held Tuesday, June 30. The ceremony will be at 11 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.
Local and state dignitaries as well as representatives from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources will attend the event. The store is located adjacent to the boat ramp and beach in the Bloomington area of the park on Long Branch Lake.
The store is a one-story 1,150-square-foot building that will offer an assortment of convenience items such as snacks, ice cream, quick lunch items soft drinks and a coffee bar. Fishing, camping and marina supplies and live bait will also be available for outdoor enthusiasts. Guests can take in views of the lake from the deck while lounging or eating. The new store will complement the existing 16-slip boat dock and fuel dock, and will be operated by park staff.
The store was constructed by the Department's Division of State Parks in-house construction crew. The improvement is made possible by the Department's one-tenth-of-one-percent sales tax and with the cooperation of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
In addition to the store and boat docks, Long Branch State Park offers boat ramps for access to the lake, a sand swimming beach, campground, picnic areas and a scenic trail around the lake. The 1,828-acre park is located two miles west of the U.S. 63 and U.S. 36 junction in Macon County.
