JEFFERSON CITY, MO., AUG. 4, 2009 -- In an effort to ensure that the public has an opportunity to provide input regarding services in state parks and historic sites, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an informational meeting Wednesday, Aug. 12 regarding Wakonda State Park near La Grange. The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the park's beach house and the public is invited.
Park staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the current status of the park and future plans. Based partially on previous comments and input from the public, the Department has recently provided vehicle access and parking to the Jasper Lake area, changed boat motor horsepower restrictions on Agate, Wakonda and Jasper lakes, and implemented a new camping registration system based out of the park's office. Visitors are invited to share comments.
Wakonda State Park is located three miles south of La Grange on Highway 61. Persons requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting can call the park directly at 573-655-2280 or the Department of Natural Resources toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
