JEFFERSON CITY, OCT. 8, 2009 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources recently unveiled the latest version of a database that will allow the public to access all final environmental emergency reports received through the state's 24-hour environmental hotline.
A revised version of the Missouri Environmental Emergency Response Tracking System has been placed on the department's website at dnr.mo.gov/ under the Online Searchable Database link. The MEERTS database will allow Missourians to search for the final reports on environmental emergencies based on a number of variables: date, county, city, address, potentially responsible party, cause and chemical information.
The database includes the final versions of reports dating back to 1994, when the original MEERTS system was introduced.
To report an environmental emergency please contact the Department of Natural Resources spill line at 573-634-2436. To report a non-emergency environmental concern, please contact the Department of Natural Resources regional office nearest the source of the concern. A complete list of regional offices and contact information is available online at dnr.mo.gov. For more information contact the department at 800-361-4827 or 573-751-3443, or visit the department's website.
