JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Gov. Jay Nixon announced the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded the Public Water Supply District #8 in Platte County with a $444,800 drinking water loan through the State Revolving Fund. During tough economic times, this infusion of loan funding will help the district protect its citizens and the environment by making necessary water improvements.
The district will use the loan to construct a new elevated water storage tank and waterline improvements. The project is estimated to cost $889,600 and is expected to be completed in January 2011. The balance of the project will be funded through a DNR rural water grant.
The department's Water Protection Program will administer the funds. The department is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects as well as provide a financial savings.
