JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 24, 2010 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is offering up to $11 million in funding under Energize Missouri Industries to improve the energy efficiency of industrial and commercial customers throughout Missouri. Through the Energize Missouri Industries initiative, the department has created the Industrial Energy Efficiency Program and the Best Price Efficiency Program.
Under the Industrial Energy Efficiency Program, the department will award up to $8 million in grant funds to provide small and large businesses with the opportunity to realize measurable energy savings that will result in reduced energy costs and improved market competitiveness. Industries may use the grants to benchmark facility energy performance, conduct energy audits and perform energy systems retrofits by installing energy efficiency projects. Examples of fundable projects include energy efficient lighting, ventilation, heating/cooling, heat recovery systems and equipment.
Energize Missouri Industries is soliciting and receiving project applications for the Industrial Energy Efficiency Program through a competitive application process. Applications must be submitted to the department by July 9, 2010 and are available on the department’s website at: dnr.mo.gov/transform/energizemissouriindustry.htm. Eligible applicants are industrial companies under the 2007 NAICS code sectors 31-33, Manufacturing, or 493, Warehousing and Storage, located or with facilities in Missouri. Other industrial companies might also be considered eligible if approved by the department as determined on a case-by-case basis. The department will host a webinar on June 9 to provide applicants with an overview of the Industrial Energy Efficiency Program.
Under the Best Price Efficiency Program, the department will award up to $3 million in grant funds through a “reverse auction”, which is open to pre-qualified providers that will competitively bid for energy efficiency incentives. Winning providers will identify industrial and commercial customers to implement energy efficiency projects and expend their allotment of incentive funds.
Energize Missouri Industries is soliciting and receiving pre-qualification forms to qualify providers to participate in the reverse auction. Pre-qualification forms must be submitted by June 25, 2010. Forms are now available on the department’s website at: dnr.mo.gov/transform/energizemissouriindustry.htm. Examples of providers include energy service companies, equipment installers and engineering and consulting firms; applicants must be located in and provide services in Missouri. The department will host a webinar on June 8 to provide potential applicants with an overview of the Best Price Efficiency Program.
Energize Missouri Industries is a Missouri initiative made possible by funds from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. For more information on the webinar and upcoming application workshops call 1-877-610-0834.
