JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JULY 23, 2010 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an open house on Saturday, Aug. 14 at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park in Wildwood. The open house, which will be held in conjunction with Bug Day, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the park’s visitor center and the public is open to the public.
Representatives from the park will be on hand to review recent activities and projects and discuss any future projects. Visitors will be invited to share comments regarding park operations and future plans for development.
Bug Day celebrates the world of insects and entomography, the practice of eating insects for food. Insects are an important part of the food chain and Bug Day will show how they eat and how we eat them. A special guest entomologist from the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House will provide insect samples for tasting. Activities and crafts will make it an event for the entire family and will include “A Buggy Lunch” and “The Venus Flytrap Catch.”
Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park is located 20 miles west of St. Louis on Highway BA between U.S. 40 and Highway 100. Persons requiring services or accommodations to attend the open house can make arrangements by calling the park directly at 636-458-3813 or by calling the Department of Natural Resources toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
