Informational meeting planned Sept. 11 for Castlewood State Park

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., AUG. 23, 2010 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources Department of Natural Resources invites you to bring your ideas to an informational meeting on Sat., Sept. 11 at Castlewood State Park near Ballwin. The meeting will be from noon to 3 p.m. just east of the park office and is open to the public.
Recent accomplishments at the park and future plans will be highlighted during the meeting. Visitors are invited to share comments on the park’s services and operations. Recent accomplishments include completing a pilot project of GPS locator signs on the Grotpeter Trail to facilitate finding individuals in the event of an emergency. Staff also initiated the removal of an exotic species (bush honeysuckle) from the park.
The informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that citizens have input on facilities and services offered in state parks and historic sites.
Castlewood State Park is located off of Highway 141, west on Big Bend Road to Ries Road and then left on Ries Road. The park entrance is at the intersection of Kiefer Creek and Ries roads.
