Informational meeting planned Sept. 13 at Battle of Athens State Historic Site

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 27, 2010 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an informational meeting on Sept. 13, to discuss issues related to the Battle of Athens and Iliniwek Village State Historic Sites, both in Clark County. The meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the site residence at the Battle of Athens State Historic Site in Revere and is open to the public.

Representatives from the site will provide information on present and future plans for both facilities and answer questions. Agenda items will include the improvements to the Battle of Athens State Historic Site as well as issues pertaining to Iliniwek Village State Historic Site. Visitors are invited to share comments and suggestions about the sites.

The informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure the public has input on services provided in the state parks and historic sites.

The site residence of the Battle of Athens State Historic Site is located 13 miles north of Kahoka on Highway 81, then four miles east on CC.
