Spook-Spectacular planned Oct. 23 at Meramec State Park

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., OCT. 15, 2010 -- Experience the Halloween season in a safe outdoor setting at a Spook-Spectacular on Oct. 23 at Meramec State Park near Sullivan. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the event will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Bring your marshmallow stick, favorite jack-o-lanterns and chairs for an evening of fun.
A presentation on bats in the campground amphitheater will begin the evening’s events. At 7:30 p.m., a bonfire in the campground will be the perfect setting for a s’more-making party with marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate provided. At 8 p.m., have your favorite jack-o-lantern ready for judging. Decoration or carving of your jack-o-lantern should be appropriate for all age groups and no carving rules apply. A free camping coupon will be given to the best decorated or carved jack-o-lantern.
