JEFFERSON CITY, MO, DEC. 7, 2010 - Missouri fifth-grade teachers are urged to submit student entries in the 2011 Earth Day Slogan Contest. The winning slogan will be used as the 2011 Earth Day theme, and the winning student will be honored at the April 29 event.
An entry form, contest rules and details are available on the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Website at dnr.mo.gov/earthday/slogancontest.htm. Deadline for entry is Jan. 31. The winner will be announced in February. In case of duplicate entry, the winner will be determined by the date the entry was received. The winner will receive a $100 savings bond donated by Central Bank in Jefferson City.
Students, teachers and the public are invited to attend the event the 17th annual Earth Day celebration to be held at the Capitol in Jefferson City starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 29. State and federal agencies participate through environmental and educational exhibits and activities.
