WHAT: Mount Calvary Rain Garden groundbreaking ceremony, announcement of 319 Nonpoint Source grants awarded to Botanical Garden, Operation Brightside and East-West Gateway
WHEN: March 11, 2011 at 11 a.m.
WHERE: Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 9321 Litzsinger Rd. in Brentwood.
WHY: The Missouri Department of Natural Resources provided a 319 Nonpoint Source grant to the Missouri Botanical Garden Deer Creek Watershed Initiative as part of its Phase I project to improve water quality in the Deer Creek Watershed. Mount Calvary Lutheran Church is the site of one of three demonstration projects Metropolitan St.Louis Sewer District is implementing in the watershed in collaboration with a team of Deer Creek Watershed Alliance Partners.
Director Pauley will also take this opportunity to announce the Department of Natural Resources will issue three 319 Nonpoint Source grants that will benefit the St. Louis area. Grant recipients include: Missouri Botanical Garden Deer Creek Watershed Initiative (Phase II), Operation Brightside Demonstration Garden and Learning Center, and the South Grand Great Streets Initiative to East-West Gateway Council of Governments.
