JEFFERSON CITY, MO. APRIL 21, 2011 -- Celebrate the birthday of Harry S Truman on May 7 at the Harry S Truman Birthplace State Historic Site in Lamar. Activities will be held from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.

Visitors can enjoy activities from the 1880s throughout the day. Test your knowledge of Victorian trivia, make an 1880s craft, enjoy children’s games and activities in the afternoon and end the day enjoying Harry’s birthday cake. The Barton County Chamber and the city of Lamar will provide wagon rides and other activities throughout the day.

Harry S Truman was born at the site on May 8, 1884, and his family lived at the site until he was almost one year old. Furnishings from the period of the Trumans’ occupancy fill the house.
