JEFFERSON CITY, MO., APRIL 27, 2011 – Are you interested in volunteering to work in a community garden to provide fresh produce for you and others in a historic setting? You may learn more about this opportunity at a meeting on Friday, April 29, at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site in Lexington. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m.
For years, staff at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site has maintained a garden as a part of the interpretive features of the site and has shared produce with the Lexington food pantry and the local House of Hope. The site is now supporting the creation of a community garden and is looking for volunteers to help care for the garden and harvest produce for themselves and for those in need.
If you are interested, meet at the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site visitor center, located at 1101 Delaware St. If you cannot attend but are interested in more details, call the site at 660-259-4654.
