The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has issued a construction permit to Porter Trash Service LLC to construct the Highway 136 Transfer Station in Nodaway County.
The transfer station will be used to transfer solid waste from collection vehicles to transport vehicles. The site is located at 34195 Highway 136, near the intersection of Highway 136 and Mahogany Road, west of Ravenwood, in Nodaway County.
The Department of Natural Resources reviews all applications submitted by cities, counties and private owners to ensure that solid waste processing facilities are property designed and constructed. Other technical factors that protect Missouri’s environment are also examined.
The department must also issue the company an operating permit before the company can accept waste at the facility. Questions and comments regarding the proposed transfer station or the department’s role in regulating solid waste processing facilities may be sent to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Solid Waste Management Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, Mo. 65102-0176. Information regarding permitted facilities is available at http://dnr.mo.gov/env/swmp/facilities/permittedfacilities.htm.
