The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded Jefferson County Public Water Supply District No. 8 $520,000 in funding for drinking water system improvements that are expected to increase the existing well capacity to meet the maximum demand for the district through 2028. Funding for the grant and loan comes from the Missouri Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The department awarded the district a $260,000 grant and a $260,000 low-interest loan for the improvements. In addition to increasing the existing well capacity, the project will include making upgrades to the distribution system to address flow and pressure problems and modifying the existing booster pump station. The project expected to be completed in July 2013.

The Missouri Drinking Water State Revolving Fund helps protect citizens and the environment by providing significant assistance to communities to make improvements to drinking water infrastructure. The Department of Natural Resources’ Water Protection Program will administer the grant and loan funds and is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects as well as provide a financial savings.
