The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an event March 9 in the Howell County town of West Plains aimed at helping southeast Missouri residents rid their homes and farms of unwanted pesticides and related chemicals.
The event, part of the Missouri Pesticide Collection Program, will allow Missouri households and farmers to safely and legally dispose of pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides, de-wormers, fly tags and fertilizers containing herbicides or pesticides.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City of West Plains Recycling Center, 1853 Goodhard Drive, in West Plains. It is open to all residents of Missouri. The next event will be held March 23 in Audrain County in northeast Missouri. Event details will be announced as they become available.
This is the second year of the Missouri Pesticide Roundup Program. Between June and October 2012, nine events were held around the state, collecting more than 68,460 pounds of pesticide waste.
