Missouri Department of Natural Resources has received an application from Ameren Missouri to construct a utility waste landfill in Franklin County to serve the company’s Labadie Energy Center.
The proposed utility waste landfill will be used to dispose of utility wastes from coal-powered energy production.
The proposed site is located at 226 Labadie Power Plant Road about 2.5 miles northeast of the town of Labadie and immediately southeast of the Missouri River in northeast Franklin County.
The department reviews all applications submitted by cities, counties and private owners to ensure that solid waste disposal areas are properly designed and constructed. Other technical factors that protect Missouri’s environment are also examined.
A copy of the permit application package is located in the Washington Public Library, 410 Lafayette St., Washington for public review.
Questions and comments regarding the proposed disposal area or the department’s role in regulating solid waste disposal areas may be sent to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Solid Waste Management Program, P.O.
