In celebration of Earth Day, Mastodon State Historic Site is inviting the public to help with natural resource management on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, volunteers are invited to help with the removal of the invasive bush honeysuckle plants along the Spring Branch Trail and help plant trees provided by Project CommuniTree, a program of Forest ReLeaf of Missouri.
Staff members will instruct and lead volunteer teams on identification and removal of bush honeysuckle. Some tools will be provided, but volunteers are requested to bring their own work gloves.
Mastodon State Historic Site is located 20 miles south of St. Louis on Interstate 55 in Imperial. The interstate is marked with signs to the historic site.
