Members of the public are invited to Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park in Wildwood for Bug Day on Saturday, August 10. The event, sponsored by Missouri State Parks, will run from 10am to 2pm in the visitor center and also includes an open house. Bug Day will feature fun family activities focused on the world of insects.
Bug Day activities include a presentation featuring a “maintenance crew” of animal characters describing how they deal with the effects of a fierce Missouri storm. Performances, featuring Foreman Artie Ant, will take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Other bug day activities will include exhibits, games, crafts, an insect zoo and a photo station.
As part of the open house, representatives from the park will be on hand to discuss recent activities at the facility. Topics will include storm damage clean-up and updates on various projects throughout the park. Visitors will be invited to share comments regarding park operations, services and future development plans. The open house is part of an ongoing effort by Missouri State Parks to ensure that citizens have input on facilities and services offered in state parks and historic sites.
Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park is located 20 miles west of St. Louis on Highway BA, between U.S. 40 and Highway 100. Persons requiring special services or accommodations to attend the open house can make arrangements by calling the park at (636) 458-3813.
