Department of Natural Resources awards $4 million to Carl Junction for wastewater improvements

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded $4 million in funding to the city of Carl Junction to expand the city’s wastewater treatment facility and rehabilitate the sewer collection system.
The funding, which comes from Missouri’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund, consists of a $2 million grant and a $2 million low interest loan. The amounts were based on an estimated project cost of $4 million and the project is expected to be complete by December 2014.
The Clean Water State Revolving Fund provides funding to assist communities with wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs. A portion of the funding will be targeted toward green infrastructure, water and energy efficiency, and environmentally innovative projects.
The Department of Natural Resources’ Water Protection Program will administer the grant and loan funds. The department is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects and provide a financial savings.
