Holiday Events at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site Dec. 13-15

The public is invited to the First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site for festive shopping, live entertainment and historic tours the weekend of Dec. 13-15.
Guests will have an opportunity to shop by candlelight during the “Holiday Haberdashery” in the historic Peck Brothers General Store on Friday, Dec. 13 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The store will also be open on Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Also on Friday night, “Capitol by Candlelight” will feature guided candlelit tours of Missouri’s First Capitol building complex beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations are recommended for the tours, which cost $4 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 6-12.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, visitors can enjoy live 19th century music by the Skirtlifters at the Candlelight Christmas Concert in the site’s historic legislative chambers. Tickets to the concert cost $10 each.
On Sunday, Dec. 15 guests can warm up with cider, cookies, and a glowing fire as Mrs. Claus recites “Twas the Night Before Christmas” in the cozy setting of the Peck Brothers residence. There may even be a visit from Santa himself. Readings will take place hourly from 12-5 p.m.
Admission is free, but reservations are encouraged.
