Tour Osage Village State Historic Site on June 14

Jefferson City, Mo. - On Saturday, June 14, Missouri State Parks will provide guided tours of Osage Village State Historic Site near Walker. Tours will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This event is free of charge, and the public is invited to attend.

Osage Village State Historic Site preserves the home of the Osage tribe during much of the 1700s. The quiet hilltop once had a population of over two thousand people, living in some two hundred lodges. Tours will detail the history of the site, and offer visitors a larger picture of the Osage culture. Visitors will hike the .8 mile interpretive trail, and staff will point out significant features along the way. Appropriate shoes and sunscreen are recommended.

Osage Village State Historic Site is located approximately 7 miles north of Walker. For more information about this site or the event, contact the site at 417-682-2279.
