Celebrate Missouri's 193rd birthday at First Missouri State Capitol Aug. 9

Jefferson City, Mo. - The public is invited to celebrate Missouri’s 193rd birthday on Saturday, Aug. 9 at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, guests can enjoy special demonstrations, interpreters in period dress and an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Throughout the day, the public is invited to view the buildings, learn about Missouri’s state symbols and play games from the 1820s. There will also be cake and punch. At 1 p.m., the World Bird Sanctuary will present the “Raptor Awareness” program, highlighting the live birds of prey.
