Outdoor Discovery Day at Crowder State Park Sept. 6

Jefferson City, Mo. - Enjoy Fall Outdoor Discovery Day at Crowder State Park on Saturday, Sept. 6 from noon until 4 p.m. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, this free event will take place in the lake parking lot area.

The event will include interactive nature displays and presentations, face painting, nature crafts, a photography scavenger hunt and outdoor recreation demonstrations, including Dutch oven cooking and archery.

A nature trivia contest will be held at noon. Individuals interested in competing in the trivia contest should form a team of two to four players. Registration for the trivia contest can be made by calling 660-359-6473 until Friday, Sept. 5.

Storytelling will be provided by Larry Brown at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Brown is a retired Assistant Professor of Human Geography at the University of Missouri. Co-founder and current president of the Mid-Missouri Organization for Storytelling (MOST), he has been telling stories for nearly 30 years. He is also the current president of Missouri Storytelling, Inc. (MO-TELL).
