Boone County Regional Sewer District receives $12.2 million loan for wastewater improvements

Jefferson City, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded the Boone County Regional Sewer District a $12.2 million low-interest loan for two sewer improvement projects.
The Rocky Fork Sanitary Sewer improvement project includes closing treatment plants within the project area and constructing a centralized facility to treat the sewage. The Route HH Sanitary Sewer improvement project will include closing local treatment plants within the project area and constructing a pressure collection system to move the sewage to Columbia’s sanitary sewer collection system.
Funding for the loan comes from the Missouri Clean Water State Revolving Fund. The fund provides assistance to communities with wastewater infrastructure needs. This funding will help the district protect residents and the environment by making necessary wastewater improvements.
The Department of Natural Resources’ Water Protection Program will administer the loan funds and is committed to working closely with communities to assist with funding efforts that support water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects as well as provide a financial savings.
