DeKalb County water system to receive funds for water storage tank
Jefferson City, Mo. - The department has awarded a loan and grant package totaling more than $830,000 to DeKalb County Public Water Supply District #1. The funds will be used to replace an aging water tower and install fencing and security lights.
The district will receive the finds in the form of a $407,751 grant and a $423,000 low-interest loan. The current water tower will be replaced with a new 150-thousand gallon elevated water storage tank. The project is estimated to cost $830,751 and is expected to be completed in June 2015. The loan will be repaid over a period of 20 years. This funding package will save the district ratepayers more than $400,000 in principal and $203,000 thousand in interest payments over a conventional loan.
The department’s Water Protection Program will administer the loan and grant funds, and is committed to working with communities to assist with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects. The department’s Water Protection Program assists with funding for communities with water quality, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs.
