City of Hunnewell to receive funds to plan for wastewater system upgrades

Jefferson City, Mo. - The department has awarded a $32,000 grant to allow the city of Hunnewell to plan for wastewater system upgrades. The funds, provided through the Small Community Engineering Assistance Program, will be used to hire an engineer to evaluate concerns and identify improvements that could be made to the city’s wastewater treatment facility.

The report is estimated to cost $40,000 and is expected to be completed in May 2015. The Department of Natural Resources will administer the grant funds and is committed to working with communities to assist with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects.
