Learn about the CCC at Sam A. Baker State Park Oct. 4

Jefferson City, Mo. - Guests are invited to learn more about the Civilian Conservation Corps at Sam A. Baker State Park on Saturday, Oct. 4. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the public will be able to participate in a tribute to the Greatest Generation and the work that became a legacy.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., participants will tap into the life and work of the CCC boys with van rides to the Mudlick Mountain fire tower, hikes to shelters built by the CCC and interactive stations featuring work and play activities. Guests can also take a leisurely stroll through history with a park interpreter. These activities will be in the area around the park’s visitor center. Registration for van rides will start at 9:30 a.m.

At 7:30 p.m., visitors will learn about the types of entertainment enjoyed by the CCC boys when the work day ended as they take a journey down Memory Lane with “A Night at the Movies – CCC Style.” This program will be held at the amphitheater located behind the visitor center.

All of the activities are free and open to the public.
