Jefferson City, Mo. - The public is invited to bring their ideas to an informational meeting at Deutschheim State Historic Site in Hermann on Sunday, Dec. 8. The meeting will be held from 3-4 p.m. at the Pommer-Gentner House during the annual German Christmas celebration, Weihnachtsfest.
During the open house, visitors are invited to share feedback on the services and operations of Deutschheim State Historic Site. This informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by Missouri State Parks to ensure that citizens have input on facilities and services offered in state parks and historic sites.
Guests are also invited to participate in Weihnachtsfest, a multi-weekend event that will take place Dec. 7-8 and Dec 13-14 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Visitors can celebrate a traditional 19th century German Christmas and learn how the Christmas customs of German immigrants evolved into the common American traditions celebrated today. The Pommer-Gentner House will be decorated with greenery and lit by lamplight. Admission is free and samples of traditional German Christmas cookies will be available. A special Weihnachtsfest gift shop will be open during the festivities.
Deutschheim State Historic Site is located on West Second Street in Hermann, 15 miles south of I-70 on Highway 19.
