JEFFERSON CITY, MO, NOV. 1, 2004 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Missouri Mines State Historic Site in Park Hills. The meeting will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the site's museum and the public is invited.

Missouri Mines State Historic Site is about to begin a several-year period of gallery reconstruction and museum exhibit completion. To assist in accomplishing this, the site will be closed from Dec. 1 until April 1. Site staff will explain what will be taking place during the winter and outline plans for additional major exhibit development in the mining-history/mineral museum. Visitors will be encouraged to ask questions and to offer any comments or suggestions about development or operation of the historic site.

This informational meeting is a part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that the public has input on services provided in state parks and historic sites.

Missouri Mines State Historic Site is located in Park Hills, on the south side of Highway 32 at the Flat River Drive overpass, about one and one-half miles west of U.S. Highway 67. People requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting can make arrangements by calling the historic site directly at 573-431-6226 or by calling the department toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
