JEFFERSON CITY, MO, NOV. 9, 2004 - Celebrate an Old Time Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site in Lexington. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
In 1863, Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. The Friends of the Anderson House will give visitors insight about how that first Thanksgiving was celebrated. The Anderson House, which was used as a field hospital for both sides during the Civil War Battle of Lexington, will be open to visitors during the event.
Battle of Lexington State Historic Site is located on John Shea Drive in Lexington.
