JEFFERSON CITY, MO, DEC. 3, 2004 -- The Missouri Air Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m., Dec. 9, in the Governor Office Building, Room 450, 200 Madison St., Jefferson City.
The commission heard testimony related to proposed Mobile Source Emission Budgets for the St. Louis Ozone Nonattainment Area during the commission's public hearing in October. The commission will make recommendations for adoption or vote on the actions to be taken. The commission also will elect new officers for 2005.
Mobile source emission budgets would place a limit on the amount of emissions that are released from highway and transit vehicles. The department proposed submitting mobile source emission budgets to comply with new, stricter federal standards for ozone. The department uses a state implementation plan to provide guidance and document progress with the standard. The department has worked with the East-West Gateway Council of Governments Interagency Consultation Group in establishing the year 2007 mobile source budgets.
People requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting can make arrangements by calling 800-361-4827 or 573-751-4817. Hearing-impaired individuals may contact the program through Relay Missouri at 800-735-2966.
