JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT. 20, 2005 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house on Thursday, Sept. 29 at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site in Jefferson City. The open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Elizabeth Rozier Gallery, which is located in the Union Hotel at the north end of Jefferson Street.
Staff from Jefferson Landing State Historic Site and the Missouri State Museum, which is located in the Capitol, will be on hand to explain the services these facilities offer to the public and to the state park system. Staff will also provide information on upcoming exhibits and plans for both facilities. The public is encouraged to share thoughts and comments with staff or to leave written comments in the comment box at the gallery. Refreshments will be provided.
Jefferson Landing State Historic Site includes management of the Lohman Building, which has exhibits and interprets the site as a once thriving river-front landing, and the Union Hotel, which houses the Elizabeth Rozier Gallery. The staff of the Missouri State Museum provides tours to thousands of visitors to the Capitol each year. They also manage the museum galleries that are on the first floor of the Capitol and the museum's extensive artifact collection.
The open house is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that the public has input on services provided in state parks and historic sites.
